Valentine's Day 2022: Wolf-Whistling Birds at 1960s Disneyland
As I probably have mentioned (but very improperly documented) here, 2021 was a challenging year for me. So, I’ve been trying to give back and recognize those who have helped me most when I probably deserved it least. And, hands down, the top two people who have been exceedingly kind, caring, patient, and, when needed, just mean enough to get me up off my butt and outside every once in a while, are my sister and my husband.
So for this year’s Valentines designs, I wanted to honor them both. My sister’s aesthetic is a Mod collage of 1960s Disneyland colors, patterns, characters, and fonts. And my husband is an actual Disney princess, loving all things birds and occasionally feeding them from his hand. So, I found some awesome patterns and textures and combined them to create this year’s Valentine’s Day cards. No words this year — just the loving, approving sweet wolf whistle of tiny birds. It’s like they’re saying, “Yaaaaaaaaaas! Get it girl.”
Just the encouragement I’ve needed (and thanks to these two — received) all year.
